Introduction

Why Blend?

Better and more stable supply

Our matcha " OKUMIDORI " (also available online) is a single-origin, single-variety tea that we have been selling for some time. We feel it has the same value as single-origin coffee, but the nature of it being a single variety affects the stability of our supply.

While our matcha products were growing in popularity, the supply of "OKUMIDORI" was unstable, and as some of you may know, we sometimes ran out of stock for long periods of time, causing inconvenience to our customers.

Creating this blend not only ensures a steady supply with enough stock to feed all matcha drinkers around the world, but also ensures the best flavor harmony all year round.

What's in the blend?

All of the tea leaves used in Kurasu's original blend are carefully grown in Kyoto.

It is a blend of other teas such as Okumidori, Samidori, Yabukitani Saeakari, Sayamakaori, Toyoharu, and Saemidori (ratios/blends subject to change), but OKUMIDORI is 100% Okumidori tea.

By blending several great teas together, each element contributes sweetness, umami and savory notes to the blend, ultimately creating a cup that is more aromatic and flavorful.

How does it taste compared to OKUMIDORI?

  • OKUMIDORI: The taste and aroma is the distinctive deep color of Okumidori, and the aroma is just like Okumidori. Because it uses Nicha tea, it has the sourness and astringency that are characteristic of Nicha tea.
  • New Blend: The new blend is a lighter green in color, but has a gorgeous aroma, a sweeter taste, and less sourness and astringency. When mixed with milk or coffee, the matcha flavor is more pronounced than with Okumidori alone, allowing you to enjoy the aroma and flavor of matcha until the last sip of your latte.

As mentioned above, OKUMIDORI will continue to be sold, but supply may fluctuate. If you want to use matcha on its own or prefer the properties of a single origin, we recommend you continue to use OKUMIDORI .

When it comes to lattes and other drinks, we're confident that our new original blends will be an improvement.
